30 day Challange

I started this month with a challenge; I will be staying away from many things this month, Many I have
enjoyed for years.
I found a great blog through a friend and decided I would join in the challenge.
I have read this blog a few times and enjoyed it.
There is also a cool app by the same name and it’s free.
I found the app useful for many reasons; one was that there is a lot of great recipes as well as useful information.
I am so excited for this month and seeing where this challenge /adventure may lead.
I hope some of you will take the leap with me and when the month is done we will be healthier and happier because of it.

Corn and Pasta?

I was at the store the other day looking at many gluten/wheat free options and saw corn pasta. I thought well it can't be bad it's corn. I was happy to see it was non GMO and Organic as well. I cooked this corn Spaghetti last night with a nice Cajun Alfredo sauce and it was oh so delicious. It didn't have a funny texture or taste. It was just a delicious noodle. I was very happy to find such a yummy option .

Sprummer!

I know it's not a word but it is a great way to explain the weather we have had this year so far . We have been keeping busy here with the garden. We have five beds now. We are growing 4 or 5 varieties of tomatoes this year as well as broccoli, carrots,Kambooza melon, zucchini, watermelon, potatoes, radishes, beets, lettuces, serranos, gypsy peppers, strawberries, raspberries, grapes, peppermint, spearmint, yarrow, stevia, thyme, oregano, lemon balm, and a few other things I can't think of at the moment . The garden is growing far better then last year . We also found out we have an apple tree which I am very excited about as are the girls . It brings so much joy to grow your own food. I am thankful that my black thumb is only with indoor plants.

It's been a while

It has been a while since I last posted. I have not been baking much. I have not been cooking anything new. I have not been sewing or crafting or couponing.
We have been going through changes here in a lot of parts of our life.We have been purging things we don't use or need.
I had read a quote a little while back and it said,"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful,or believe to beautiful." I didn't write the author down.
I have really taken this to heart. I think it is important not to have clutter in our lives whether it be stuff or events ect. I think we need to live for what is important to us  and get rid of the rest.
I know that a lot of people in my life may wonder where I have been and I will let you know I have been busy making my life and the life of my family better. My goal is to make my families life as happy as possible with out  adding un needed stuff. I think we need very little in life to be happy.
I am trying to get to a point where the only things in our house are useful or beautiful to us which may take a while but it needs to be done. We don't need things to be happy though at times it seems they make us feel better for a time. I will be trying out some new recipes in the near future and when I do I will share them.

My first time making pasta...

Tonight I thought I would make pasta for dinner from scratch. I got a pasta maker for my birthday a few days ago and thought I should use it.
I made the dough and then set up the machine with the help of my two girls we rolled out the pasta dough. I decided rather then fuss with one of the pasta cutters I would use the sheets of pasta to make ravioli.
I was surprised at how easy it was and how quickly they cooked.
I thought they tasted alright. This being my first time with fresh pasta it was not what I was used to. Everyone thought it was delicious. There were no left overs. I think I will try pasta making again soon.

Blessed and Croissants

I have been thinking lately how truly Blessed I am.
When I was in my teens I thought being blessed meant having everything you wanted.
I know today that this is not true.
I was thinking about it the other day on my birthday.
The gifts that meant the most to me were the gifts of time, not the gifts of things, though they were nice too. I grow more and more thankful every day for the time I get to spend with people/family who mean a lot to me.

I made Croissants the other day and though they are a bit of work they taste yummy!
wikihow.com is where I got the recipe and it has step by step instructions with pictures .

I am working on a couple of new recipes will share when I get the bugs worked out.
